- How much mulch do I need per square metre?
- At the recommended 75 mm depth, 1 m³ covers about 13 m². Measure your beds, multiply length × width, and our mulch calculator converts it straight into bulk bags and bags.
- Which mulch is best for Perth's climate?
- Chunky, open mulches like pine bark last longest and let water through; lupin mulch feeds sandy soil as it breaks down and suits natives and vegie beds. Fine mulches can repel water once dry — keep them for looks, not water saving.
- When should I mulch in Perth?
- Late spring, before the heat arrives — after soil-wetter and a deep watering. Mulching damp soil in October/November locks moisture in for summer; mulching bone-dry soil locks the dryness in instead.
